The African Coalition, in proud partnership with the H.E.L.P.E.R. Foundation, hosted a heartfelt and inspiring Power in Prevention Youth Recognition Event, honoring the voices, resilience, and achievements of young leaders in our community.
This special event was designed to create a safe and empowering space where youth could reflect on their personal growth, share their accomplishments, and be recognized for their positive contributions. Each participant had the opportunity to stand up and speak about what they were proud of—moments of perseverance, milestones in education, acts of leadership, and efforts to support their peers. As part of the celebration, every youth received a Certificate of Recognition and a $25 stipend as a token of appreciation for their time, engagement, and impact.
It was a powerful reminder that youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow—but the changemakers of today. In addition to the recognition ceremony, the African Coalition distributed critical community resources, including Narcan (naloxone)—a life-saving opioid overdose reversal medication—along with educational materials on prevention, mental health, and wellness. This event was not only about celebration—it was about investing in youth, reinforcing their value, and equipping them with tools to stay safe and informed.
