On a vibrant and inspiring day in Los Angeles, the African Coalition proudly took part in the Fifth-Year Anniversary Celebration of Sanctuary of Hope (SOH)—a powerful event dedicated to uplifting racial equity, youth empowerment, and community wellness.

This milestone celebration brought together community leaders, youth advocates, and nonprofit organizations under a shared vision of justice and opportunity. The event highlighted the urgent need for racial equity and diversity in federal funding, emphasizing that access and representation are critical components of true systemic change. As part of the day’s programming, the African Coalition presented its Power in Prevention workshop, which offered participants valuable insights into preventative health strategies and the importance of addressing health disparities in underserved communities. Attendees who participated in the session received $25 gift cards, recognizing the value of their engagement and time. In addition to the educational and celebratory components, the event created space for joy and connection. Guests enjoyed food trucks, a gaming center, and immersive release therapy sessions, offering a holistic approach to wellness that centered both mental and physical health. The African Coalition is honored to have contributed to this landmark event, standing in solidarity with Sanctuary of Hope and other changemakers working tirelessly to advance equity, health, and hope in our communities. As we celebrate five years of Sanctuary of Hope’s impact, we look ahead with commitment and purpose—knowing that the power of prevention, advocacy, and community collaboration will carry us forward.
